LAMGABHI: The female Commander of the Swaziland International Solidarity Forces(SISF)has confirmed the burning of a truck allegedly sub-contracted to Montigny Investment, a company with links to Mswati.
The truck was allegedly burnt at LaMgabhi eBhunya on Wednesday evening.
“We were on our way to do a surveillance operation, on our way back we saw a Montigny truck and decided to burn it after we learnt through media reports that the company was underpaying its employees. We were not targeting the truck, we just saw it along the road and decided to burn it,” said the female Commander of the Solidarity Forces.
The Commander said the truck was not a property of the royalty linked company but was sub-contracted to Montigny Investment.
Phindile Vilakati, the police Spokesperson had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Reached for comments, Sihle Mavuso, the Montigny Investments Spokesperson confirmed the burning of the truck.
“It’s true, I have received the information that one of our trucks has been burnt. I am on my way to the scene and will share a detailed comment thereafter”, said the Montigny Spokesperson.
The Montigny Spokesperson later called and clarify that the truck does not belong to the company but he mentioned that they were rushing the driver to hospital.
Eswatini is in the midst of a political unrest after Mswati refused to participate in a political dialogue and subsequently unleashed soldiers and the police to shoot at unarmed civilians.
