MBABANE: King Mswati will snub the funeral of Queen Elizabeth, attending funerals clashes with the King’s rituals and practices.
As per an online report published by the office of Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo, the absolute Monarch sent his Deputy Prime Minister Senator Themba Nhlanganiso Masuku who left the country on Saturday.
“Deputy Prime Minister Senator Themba Masuku leaves the country, through the Ngwenya Border Post, to represent His Majesty King Mswati III at the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II in the United Kingdom.The Queen’s funeral will take place on Monday, 19 September 2022,” reads a report published by Government online platforms.
Traditional and ritual practices performed during the coronation of the King do not allow him to attend funerals, those who attend are barred from coming closer to the Monarch for a certain period.
