MBABANE: Phindile Dlamini, the Correctional Services Commissioner General implemented King Mswati’s order, she personally commissioned an operation to assault incarcerated pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube.
It has been disclosed that Dlamini, a daughter to former Prime Minister Prince Makhosini by-passed the Operations Office under Chief Assistant Commissioner Davies Zwane and ordered the Rapid Response Unit headed by Superintendent Robert Gama who was leading the operation.
Superintendent Gugulethu Dlamini, the Spokesperson of the Correctional Services declined to comment on the matter.
Dlamini previously told this publication that she would have to get permission from Government before commenting.
“I will have to get permission from Government before commenting”,said the Correctional Services Spokesperson.
But insiders told this publication that the Commissioner General violated the chain of command and commissioned the operation, the source said Commissioner Phindile was under pressure to prove to King Mswati that she can lead the institution and implement royal orders.
“She is under pressure to prove that despite being a woman, she can lead the institution and implement orders,” said the insider.
Speaking to this Swaziland News earlier, lawyer Ben J Simelane who is representing the MPs confirmed that his clients were heavily assaulted.
MP Bacede Mabuza was on Friday rushed to the Manzini Clinic where he was treated and discharged.
