NEW YORK:Ahunna Eziakonwa, the United Nations Development Program(UNDP) Regional Director for Africa has pledged to assist eSwatini end poverty within five(5) years,Government online platforms reported on Sunday.
Speaking during the eSwatini Investment Forum held in New York last week, the UNDP Regional Director for Africa said she was fully educated about eSwatini adding that the country as amazing with a sense of peace.
“I have been fully educated about this amazing country and I have absolutely no doubt that in five years, we can lift all of the Eswatini people out of poverty. Let's get the work done.It is hard not to love Eswatini. When I arrived (in 2011), I felt a sense of deep peace. I was struck by the beauty of the country, not only of the physical landscape but also of the humanity landscape, the beauty of the people: they were polite, happy, and patient,” said the UNDP Regional Director as quoted by Government online platforms.
It has been reported that the Investment Forum was hosted on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Eswatini was part of the agenda to reimagine the future of development and reshape its investment pathways.
