MANZINI: Xolile Dlamini, the newly elected President of the People’s United Democratic Movement's (PUDEMO) Women's League says as women they have resolved to reclaim their position in the struggle for democracy.
Speaking to this publication on Tuesday, the PUDEMO Women's League President said it was time to fight patriarchy and the Tinkhundla system of governance.
"We the women of Swaziland, now we are reclaiming our political space.The Congress has resolved to fight patriarchy and the Tinkhundla system of governance. Women are oppressed by males.Its about time that we fight for our rights.We are not objects that will be associated with material gains of males.Through education and awareness campaigns we believe that we will win", said the President.
Dlamini was elected President of the PUDEMO Women's league during an electoral Congress that was held in Manzini over the past weekend.
Others include Nontsikelelo Vilakati(Deputy President),Fisiwe Gama (Secretary General),Lindokuhle Shiba (Deputy Secretary General), Bobo Methula (National Organising Secretary) and Phindile Dlamini (Treasurer General) among others.
The Congress was held under the theme” As women, we reclaim our rightful position in the struggle now".
