MBABANE:Themba Khumalo,the Managing Director of the Eswatini Post and Telecommunications Corporation(EPTC) says as a company, they will pursue the widely reported R16million fraud case to its finality.
Responding to our questionnaire on the subject matter, the Managing Director said the matter was handed over to the law enforcement agencies who are yet to conclude the investigations.
“The matter was handed over to law enforcement agencies who have conducted extensive work but yet to conclude the investigations. We can confirm that the file is not closed and EPTC will continue pursuing the case to its conclusion. The company remains vigilant in enhancing controls and security with zero tolerance for fraud".
On or around August 2019, the Swazi Observer exclusively reported that R16million went missing within the government parastatal.
Subsequent to the report,National Commissioner of Police William Dlamini and the then Managing Director Petros Dlamini addressed journalists during a press conference held at the company’s offices in Mbabane and announced an investigation into the disappearance of the money.
It was subsequently reported that about R15million was recovered through assistance from the financial intelligence banking systems.
