Without implying that the two suspects are guilty, the arrest of prominent lawyer Martin ‘Internesh’ Dlamini and Students Union Deputy Secretary General Ayanda Mncedisi Mhlongo on alleged rape charges should be an eye opener that issues of domestic violence and or women abuse need to be prioritized as a matter of urgency.
As lawyer Martin Internesh Dlamini appeared in court, I asked myself, how many suspected “Interneshes” do we have in the country particularly in the rural areas?
It should be noted that in most instances men who rape children normally abuse them physically and emotionally, the same applies to women who rape young boys.
