WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY: SNAT President Mbongwa Dlamini says empowering teachers lead to meaningful development.

KEMPTON PARK: Mbongwa Dlamini, the President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) says Government needs to empower teachers in order to facilitate meaningful development instead of investing on physical structures. 

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Wednesday, when interviewed by editor Zweli Martin Dlamini as part World Teachers Day, the SNAT President said the world has realized that the education system can only be improved by empowering teachers.

"As per this year's theme, there's no development without teachers.Development doesn't come from physical structures but from empowered brains. Teachers are the people responsible for empowering those brains, so they deserve to be well looked after",he said. 

Bheki Gama, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Training had not responded to our questions at the time of compiling this report. 

The SNAT President was invited by the South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) during the commemorating of the World Teachers’ Day at Kempton Park outside Johannesburg on Wednesday under the theme “The Transformation Of Education Begins With Teachers”.
