MANZINI: Senator Lizzie Nkosi, the Minister of Health launched the Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Wednesday under the theme “focusing on frontline health care workers”.
According to Eswatini Government online platforms, the Health Minister said she would like to recognize the important role played by healthcare workers over the years in providing healthcare to cancer patients.
"I would like to recognized the important role that healthcare workers have played over the years,in providing effective and timely cancer care with dedication and commitment, thus having a positive impact on cancer patients and the communities as a whole," said the Minister as quoted by Government online platforms.
On another note, World Health Organization (WHO) Representative Cornelia Atsyor applauded the Government of Eswatini and stakeholders for keeping breast cancer on the radar of health development.
“I applaud the Government of Eswatini and stakeholders for continuously keeping breast Cancer on the radar of health development, for implementing the Global Cancer Control Strategy and for establishing an oncology Centre in the country including an oncology specialist",said the WHO representative as quoted by Government online platforms.
October is the Breast Cancer Month and this year's theme is "Close the care gap" which is about understanding the inequities in cancer care and taking actions to make the necessary progress to address them.
