MBABANE: Mbongwa Dlamini, the President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) who is critical of King Mswati and his government has been charged with absentism for attending union activities.
The SNAT President received a letter with the charge from the Ministry of Education Under Secretary (US) Lungelo Nhlengetfwa on Friday.
Speaking during a press conference held at the SNAT Centre on Friday Lot Vilakati, the SNAT Secretary General confirmed the matter.
“We have received the letter, what amazes us is that there are new charges here which is absentism and was signed by the Under Secretary at the Ministry of Education Lungelo Nhlengetfwa. As the NEC we will be in touch with our lawyers for legal advice and will act thereafter", said the SNAT Secretary General.
Bheki Gama, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Education had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
The SNAT President was earlier charged for warning teachers to stay away from work for safety reasons following an order issued by the Commander of the Solidarity Forces.
