MBABANE: Mzwandile Ndzinisa, the Pigg’s Peak Town Council Chief Executive Officer(CEO) has confirmed that plant machinery and other equipment belonging to the Municipality was petrol bombed in the early hours on Thursday.
The petrol bombing comes amid tension between some residents and the administrators of the Town Council over alleged grabbing of properties.
“Yes I can confirm that our heavy plant (two TLBs or tractor loader backhoe and a tractor) were burnt this morning after midnight at the landfill. With that said, I have reported this disaster to my principals at the Ministry,” said the Pigg’s Peak CEO.
Efforts to seek a comment from Clifford Mamba, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report, his phone rang unanswered.
On another note, the CEO when responding to questions from this publication earlier, clarified that the Municipality was not involved in any land grabbing but collected rates from ratepayers to provide services.
It has been disclosed that some of the residents who complained of land grabbing were owing rates and the auction of their properties was stopped after they had paid.
