AFTER BEING STOPPED FROM MARCHING TO THE PRIME MINISTER: Junior cops ‘run’ to pro-democracy to MP Timothy Myeni.

NGONINI: Timothy Myeni, the Nkilongo Member of Parliament(MP) has been mandated by junior police officers to lobby other MPs in moving an urgent motion directing Prime Minister Cleopas Dlamini to increase their salaries under Phase Two(2).

The MP has been vocal in Parliament demanding answers from government regarding the delay in awarding the junior officers a salary increment.

Reached for comments, MP Myeni who has been vocal in advocating for the welfare of police officers confirmed being approached to move the motion.

“After being stopped from marching to the Prime Minister’s Office again, some of the officers approached and asked me to lobby other MPs for an urgent motion to speed up the matter. Atsi lamaphoyisa asiyisebenteni lendzaba ngekuphuthuma bangaze bente intfo labangayitsandzi. I will lobby other MPs for a Parliament resolution on the matter,” said the MP.

Police Spokesperson Superintendent Phindile Vilakati had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

Junior police officers are demanding a salary increment from Mswati’s Government, tension escalated on Tuesday afternoon after they were stopped from marching to the Prime Minister’s Office again to collect responses.
