TAIPEI: Senator Mancoba Khumalo, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade says trade between eSwatini and Taiwan will strengthen the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Speaking during a Taiwan Africa Networking Luncheon held in Taipei, Taiwan on Friday, the Minister said he was encouraged by the strong relationship formed between the two countries adding that he believed trade and investment were the avenues through which ties can further be strengthened.
“Our relationship with TAITRA predates the Kingdom entering a formal Economic Cooperation Agreement (ECA) with Taiwan which came into effect in 2018. In those early days the only exports from Eswatini to Taiwan were citrus fruits.Good progress continues to be made as our exports of jam, chilli sauces and honey continue to gain support in the local Taiwanese market,”‘said the Commerce Minister as quoted by eSwatini Government online platforms.
