BHUNYA: Wander Mkhonza, the Secretary General of the Amalgamated Trade Union Congress of Swaziland(ATUSWA) led Montigny Investments workers on Thursday in a protest SEIWU,a trade union with alleged links to capitalists.
SEIWU stands for the Swaziland Economy Improvement Workers Union(SEIWU), a union that discourages workers from engaging in protest actions in demand for their rights.
Montigny, a company owned by Finance Minister Neal Rijikernberg is among corporate entities violating workers rights with impunity, the company is connected to King Mswati through Tibiyo TakaNgwane Investments.
At Montigny Investments, the workers invited the ATUSWA Executive to address them.
Addressing the workers, ATUSWA Secretary General Wander Mkhonza came hard on Mashumi Shongwe who allegedly sold the workers to capitalists.
“The union that represented you is a union of corporate thugs who are found everywhere. It is led by a thug that is found everywhere even Municipalities and football,” said the ATUSWA Secretary General.
The protest comes after editor Zweli Martin Dlamini wrote an article suggesting that special attention must be given to Montigny Investments for violating workers rights.
The company is alleged to be colluding with SEIWU to illtreat workers with impunity.
