LOBAMBA: Marwick Khumalo, the Lobamba Lomdzala Member of Parliament(MP) has urged Prime Minister(PM) Cleopas Dlamini to ensure that Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo does not poke his noise on political matters involving MPs.
Addressing the PM on Friday in Parliament, the long serving MP said he has noted that sometimes when they ask questions to the Prime Minister, the Government Spokesperson normally involves himself on such issues.
“We are not aware if the Constitution allows that sometimes powers of the PM would be assumed by the Government Spokesperson, who responds on issues that are supposed to be answered by the PM in Parliament. I believe a Government’s position can be communicated by the Spokesperson but not to enter into battlefield with the Parliamentarians,” said the Lobamba Lomdzala MP.
Khumalo said as Parliament, they must also get their own Spokesperson who would speak for the Legislature, he said they were many qualified individuals who could take-up the job.
