Political unrest victim who was ‘burnt’ by Mswati’s soldiers urgently need medical attention.

PIET RETIEF:Makhosazane Shabangu of Hosea, one of the political unrest victims is urgently in need of medical attention.

Speaking to this Swaziland News, Shabangu who is currently admitted at Piet Ritief said she fell into fire after soldiers fired shots at protestors at Mathendele in Nhlangano.

“It was on the 30th June 2021, we are protesting at Mathendele, soldiers arrived and started shooting and I fell on the fire while trying to run away. I saw a child on fire and I don’t know what happened thereafter. What I remember is that some people took me to Nhlangano hospital and there was no medication.Now I am admitted at Piet Ritief hospital and the doctors here recommended skin specialists,she said.

Nandipa Dlamini of the United Eswatini Diaspora(UED), an organization that has been taking care of Shabangu’s medical bills said they have tried to vain to assist Shabangu but the costs of the skin treatment were escalating.

“She was among the protestors on the June unrest.When soldiers arrived and started shooting, she tried to run away, unfortunately, she fell on fire.She is currently admitted at Piet Retief hospital and as UED, we have been trying to assist her, however, the costs of her medical are escalating,”she said.

King Mswati, an absolute Monarch who using guns and or weapons of war to hold on to power, allegedly unleashed soldiers and the police to shoot and kill dozens of civilians merely for demanding democratic reforms.

Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

On another note, Nandipha Dlamini of the United Eswatini Diaspora said those who might be interested to assist the unrest victim can contact Shabangu directly or her child.

“She has been in hospital since the political unrest and what happened thereafter, her child dropped out of school due to the unavailability of funds. We recommend that those who are willing to assist can contact the child on +268 7672 2634 or talk directly to Makhosazane on +27 (73) 044-8360,”’said Nandipha Dlamini of the United Eswatini Diaspora.
