MBABANE: Aggrieved junior police officers have labelled Public Service Minister Mabulala Maseko as “umtsakatsi” as the tension surrounding the demand for a salary increment escalates within the police service.
Umtsakatsi is a siSwati name referring to a witch, being a person with alleged ‘evil’ motives of not taking kindly to seeing other people living a better life.
Speaking in a WhatsApp group during a discussion with other officers, a junior cop wondered why the Minister opted to engage a consultant instead of just releasing their money.
“I am wondering why lo-mtsakatsi longu-Mabulala keeps on saying he will engage a consultant instead of releasing our money, we want our money. How can you increase salaries for senior officers and then when we demand ours, you change tune saying you must first engage a consultant?” said the junior police officer.
In the midst of the discussion, the officer suggested that they must implement their plan of arming themselves with guns and invade the homes of senior officers and Ministers including Mabulala Maseko in demands for their money.
On another note, Public Service Minister Mabulala Maseko recently told officers that any officer who was not interested in the four(4) percent salary increase should just leave it at the bank.
