MBABANE: Colani Maseko, the President of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SANU) has been awarded a scholarship worth sixty thousand Rands(R60,000.00) by Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini.

It has been disclosed that Maseko who will soon pursue his Bachelor’s Degree in Leadership Management at the Southern African Nazarene University(SANU) approached the editor for assistance after completing his teaching practice this month.

Reached for comments, the Students Union President thanked the Swaziland News editor for funding his three(3)year programme.

“One of our principles as SNUS is academic excellence and we always urge our members to maintain academic excellence regardless of the persecution by the regime. I'm humbled to be a perfect example of academic excellence to the students’ populace. And I’m very grateful to the editor for funding my three(3)year programme,”said the Students President.

On another note, Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini said it was a great pleasure for him to fund the Students President whom he described as a great asset not only for the Nation.

“In the democratic Government, we will need educated leaders in different sectors of our society and this is an investment for the future. Maseko is a very disciplined and respectful person, he is not only an asset for his political party but the entire country,”said the editor.

The editor said he grew-up in poverty and he was assisted by people who were not related to him but who identified his potential.

As a result, he said the scholarship directed to the Students President was not necessarily for Colani but would benefit the country by enhancing Maseko’s leadership skills.
