MBABANE:Clifford Mamba, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development says town planners have a critical role to play in enhancing development.
Speaking during the commemoration of World Town Planning Day and launch of the Eswatini Town Planners Association held at Hilton Hotel, Mbabane on Tuesday, the PS said the commemoration was meant to recognize and promote the role of Town Planners in creating well planned and prosperous communities.
“This is a special day targeted at recognising and promoting the role of planners and planning in creating well planned, healthy and prosperous communities.Last year in November, we commemorated this day for the first time in the country and local planners elected an interim committee that was tasked with formally establishing a Town Planners Association in the country.Today, a year later, we officially launch the Eswatini Town Planners Association(ETPA).The Ministry encourages all Town Planners in the country to affiliate with this professional body where they will be able to engage with their colleagues and ensure that the Town Planning profession is well established and acknowledged in the country,”said the PS as quoted by Government online platforms.
