MBABANE: King Mswati's alleged spies from the United Arab Emirates(UAE) have arrived in eSwatini as the second wave of the political unrest intensifies.

The spies disguised as investors from Abu Dhabi were introduced by Mswati during a press conference held at Lozitha Palace on Monday evening.

State controlled media houses were summoned and told to report that the alleged spies were in eSwatini for investment.

After meeting the King on Monday evening, the alleged spies disguised as investors met with the Acting Prime Minister Senator Themba Masuku at the Cabinet offices.

Speaking during the press conference, the Acting PM ‘mistakenly’ mentioned that EMI Gate Holdings was here to explore opportunities on cyber-security among others.

“This company is on record expressing interest to explore opportunities in sectors including mining, construction, ICT, cyber security,energy,agri-business and tourism. We are ready to assist by providing the information you require to enable you to take informed decisions,”said the Acting Prime Minister when addressing the media.

It could not be ascertained how the ‘investors’ managed to conduct due diligence within two weeks before deciding to invest in the Kingdom of eSwatini.

Due diligence is a detailed and or a comprehensive investigation that a potential investor carries out on a target business or a country after successfully completing preliminary negotiations

The investigation that include a risk assessment enables the investor to make informed whether to invest in that particular country or not.

It has been disclosed that the ‘investors’ were actually in eSwatini to spy on Swazis and intercept the communication of independent journalists and or an underground unit known as the Swaziland International Solidarity Forces(SISF) and Sikhali Senkhululeko yemaSwati(SSS).

Since the second wave of the political unrest erupted, EMI Gate Holdings is the only international company that saw an opportunity to invest in a country where a civil war was looming with political killings intensifying.

But after the press conference,an insider within the corridors of power provided critical information to this investigative journalist on how the State was planning to intercept communication for pro-democracy activists, independent journalists and members of the underground forces.

“The deal was discussed when the King was in Abu Dhabi about two weeks ago. That’s why the so called investors are here within fourteen days because the King mentioned that he wanted the services urgently,” said the insider.

A questionnaire was sent to eSwatini Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo where he was asked to clarify the real purpose of the investors, however, he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

EMI Gate Holdings Investments are on Tourism Investment, Health, Trade, Media, Tourism Real Estate Development, Hospitality, Facilities Management and Security, their head offices are based in Abu Dhabi.
