MBABANE: Constable Qiniso Sikhondze, the newly appointed Public Relations Officer(PRO) of the Police Staff Association has confirmed that junior police officers would join members of the public on Tuesday,in demanding the release of incarcerated pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube.
Responding to a questionnaire from this Swaziland News, the PRO said off-duty officers would join the masses, he encouraged on-duty officers to respect the rule of law, particularly freedom of association and speech in their of duty.
“We encourage all junior officers not to harm or beat unarmed Swazis who are exercising their rights as the Constitution outlines.Junior police officers are also encouraged to take note of whoever will heed orders to beat and maime marchers,” said the Police Staff Association PRO.
On another note, Acting Prime Minister Themba Masuku addressed the media on Monday afternoon assuring the public that Tuesday would be a normal working day.
