MBABANE: Bhekithemba Gama, the Principal Secretary(PS) in the Ministry of Education and Training has, once again, announced the postponement of the Eswatini General Certificate in Secondary Education (EGCSE)examinations.

Speaking to the State owned radio on Wednesday morning, the Education PS said the decision to postpone the exams was purely professional adding that Minister Lady Howard-Mabuza would be informed in due course.

“Due to the current situation, as a Ministry, after consultations with the Examinations Council, we decided to postpone all exams scheduled for this week. This is a professional decision which was taken without consulting with the Minister. We feared that she might delay the announcement yet the situation is already not conducive for the exams to proceed", said the Principal Secretary.

Eswatini is in the midst of a political unrest, members of the public are protesting demanding democracy and the release of incarcerated pro-democracy Members of Parliament (MPs) Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube

The MPs were arrested for demanding democratic reforms, they are facing politically motivated terrorism charges.
