MBABANE: Prime Minister Cleopas Dlamini has launched the eSwatini Decent Work, a document that outlines the programme that Government, employers, and employees plan to implement in order to improve the general labour environment.
According to a Government online report, the document further aimed at,among other things, improving the standard of living in the country.
The event was held at the Mountain View, Mbabane, on Thursday.
“As a member of the International Labour Organization, the Kingdom of Eswatini is an advocate of universal and lasting peace and social justice, which both fall under the pillars of the United Nations.Today’s event seeks to endorse the country’s commitment towards promoting these pillars, and to showcase some of the initiatives that have been implemented by Government in an effort to ensure the implementation of international labour standards and improve social justice,” said the Prime Minister as quoted by Government online platforms.
On another note, Dr Joni Musabayana, the International Labour Organization(ILO) Director Decent Work Country Office Dr said the signing of the Decent Work Country Programme signifies Eswatini’s commitment to ensure a labour market that is at peace and harmony with itself.
“The signing also symbolises the work programme which the employers, trade unions and the Government have agreed to work together to achieve the labour market harmony we all desire,” said the ILO Director Decent Work as quoted by Government online platforms.
It has been reported that Business Eswatini, Federation of Eswatini Business Community (FESBC), Trade Union Congress of Eswatini (TUCOSWA) and Federation of Eswatini Trade Unions (FESWATU) were represented during the official launch.
