Public transport workers union boss Sticks Nkambule summoned by National Commissioner ahead of shutdown, cops harass family.

MBABANE: Sticks Nkambule, the Secretary General of the Swaziland Transport, Communication and Allied Workers Union(SWATCAWU) was on Wednesday morning summoned by William Tsintsibala Dlamini, the National Commissioner of Police ahead of the highly anticipated national shutdown next week.

Speaking to this Swaziland News while at the Police Headquarters, the Secretary General said police arrived at home and harassed his mother.

“I am at the Police Headquarters as we speak but the police drove to my home to harass my mother. When asked why they went there, they claimed, they thought I was struggling with transport to Mbabane,” said the now powerful unionist when speaking to this Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini.

A questionnaire was sent to Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson, however, she had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

Police and Cabinet are working tirelessly to ensure that the national shutdown is blocked from taking place, unionist Sticks Nkambule who was leading the November 15th shutdown has been harassed on numerous occasions by Mswati’s police.

The shutdown seeks to demand democracy, the release of pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Bacede Mabuza, Mthandeni Dube and other political prisoners.
