PUBLIC TRANSPORT WORKERS: It’s two days shutdown every month until MPs are released.

Saturday, 10th December, 2022

MBABANE: Public transport workers say they will embark on a shutdown at least twice a month until the incarcerated pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube are released.

“We decided on the two(2)days shutdown every month and this will cost Government more millions and the regime will feel the pressure. With the two days(2), we are avoiding a situation whereby we would find ourselves being divided, public transport workers survive with what they collect daily, so we can mantain the two days. For us, the two days is not a problem but a headache for the Government,” said a leader of the public transport workers union whose name cannot be revealed to protect him from contempt of court charges.

Public transport workers will engage on a stay-away on the 13th and 14th December 2022 in demand for democracy and the release of the incarcerated MPs.

On another note, Senator Themba Masuku, the Deputy Prime Minister said Government has been observing and following the disagreeable developments of the illegal call by some individuals and irresponsible entities that wanted to disrupt the transport system of the country.

Addressing journalists during a press conference on Saturday afternoon at the Cabinet offices, the DPM said Government was disturbed by the threats of public transport disruption.

“Government is disturbed by this threat and therefore as an entity that is responsible for law and order, as well as observing the rule of law, has taken a step to approach the courts of law to stop this illegal action to interrupt transportation activities. The courts have listened and heard our application and granted an interim order against the action,”said the DPM.
