MBABANE: Human Rights Lawyer Thulani Maseko, the Chairperson of the MultiStakeholder Forum(MSF) says political organizations that support the Tinkhundla undemocratic system while ‘hiding’ in the Mass Democratic Movement(MDM) might be expelled if the MSF takes that decision next week.
This comes after some organizations who are members of the MSF declared that they would join the elections once they are announced.
Speaking to this Swaziland News, the MSF Chairperson said speaking in a forked tongue on this issue was affecting them internationally as the world wanted to know whether they supported the elections or not.
As a result, the human rights lawyer said they would discuss this matter and come-up with a clear position.
But the MSF Chairperson did not rule-out a possibility that those who supported the undemocratic elections might be expelled from the MSF if that position would be adopted.
“I cannot pre-empt the decision of the meeting because we are yet to discuss this matter. The view is that, we need to galvanize and mobilize even those who are seeking to intervene in Swaziland,to say Mswati must not be allowed to convene an election before having agreed on how we are going to run the process going forward, that’s a very clear position. So, it is sort of inconsistent to then say, you are galvanizing those who are sympathetic to you not to support an election, at the same time, some of us within the MDM, consider going to the election, you are sending a mixed message. It is really difficult to understand exactly, what do you want? Do you want an election under Tinkhundla or you don’t want an election under Tinkhundla? Thats the fundamental question,” said the MSF Chairperson.
It has been disclosed that some key organizations including the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO)who are members of the MSF want the organizations supporting Mswati’s Tinkhundla system expelled from the MSF,on fears that during meetings they might spy their strategies of stopping the elections.
