Tuesday, 13th December, 2022

HLUTHI: Commuters who were waiting for a bus had to flee after police opened fire here at Hluthi on Tuesday morning as tension escalates.

Protestors blocked the road by burning tyres to mark the beginning of the national shutdown supported by public transport workers, however, a few individuals who were waiting for transport had to flee as police were randomly firing shots thinking they were the ones who were burning tyres.

Police Spokesperson Superintendent Phindile Vilakati had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

Deputy Prime Minister Senator Themba Masuku assured the Nation on Monday that Tuesday would be a normal working day.
