HAWANE: A Government bus transporting commuters who defied the national shutdown was involved in an accident at Hawane on Tuesday afternoon.
An eye witness who shared pictures and videos to this Swaziland News immediately after the accident that happened at around 4pm,said employees from the Fire Department were still struggling to retrieve the driver who was trapped.
“I am here at the scene, as you can see in the pictures, the driver is trapped,” said the eye witness.
A questionnaire was sent to Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson, however, she had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo informed the Nation on Tuesday morning when speaking to the State owned radio that Government had provided buses to transport commuters amid the national shutdown supported by public transport workers.
But now, it has been emerged that some of the buses were not well-serviced and were a high risk to the commuters.
Police and soldiers were also deployed to drive the buses without public permits and or the necessary training to drive public vehicles.
