NATIONAL SHUTDOWN: Deputy Prime Minister says free transportation system was very successful, accident not mentioned.

MBABANE: Senator Themba Masuku, the Deputy Prime Minister(DPM)says the free transportation system provided by Government in the midst of the national shutdown was successful. 

Addressing journalists during a press conference on Tuesday, the DPM urged emaSwati to continue utilizing the buses provided by eSwatini Government going forward. 

“More transportation will be provided to cover other routes tomorrow should the need arise. We took the opportunity to interact with emaSwati who showed their appreciation for Government’s intervention while also expressing their frustration for being deprived transportation to support their daily needs",he said. 

On Tuesday, public transport workers engaged in a national shutdown, in demand for democracy, the release of incarcerated pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Bacede Mabuza, Mthandeni Dube and other political prisoners.

In response to the shutdown, Government provided free buses and one of the buses was involved in an accident at Hawane, the Deputy Prime Minister did not mention the accident during the press conference.
