MATSAPHA:Maduduza Zwane, the Director of Maduduza Zwane Labour Brokers contracted by Eswatini Brewery has fired employees a few weeks after increasing their salaries from R7.00 to R20.00 per-hour.
The twenty Rands(R20.00)per-hour was amounting to R3500.00 per month.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Tuesday morning,Sisekelo Dlamini, an employee at Eswatini Brewery confirmed that they were told to stop working.
“We can confirm that we were told to stop working,immediately after they raised the money to R20.00 per hour.Both the Labour Broker and Eswatini Brewery are refusing to come-up with clear answers as to why they told to us stop working,”said the Eswatini Brewery.
Reached for comments regarding the latest developments,Maduduza Zwane said he was in a meeting.
“In a meeting now but untrue for their rights no,” he said.
But Zwane, the Labour Broker earlier told this Swaziland News that Government Gazettes were empowering him to ‘underpay’ employees.
“If the minimum is set by workers representatives, employers’ representatives and Government why are we blamed for sticking to what is provided in the law? It is rather strange that workers send representatives to the Wages Council. These representatives agree in the tripartite on the salaries of the employees. Once they descend Malagwane, the employers are blamed for paying what the Wages Council promulgated.I admit salaries are low in the country, but procedures must be followed, and the real cause of the problem be addressed.To me a solution to this national problem would be a national minimum wage,”said the Labour Broker.
