MONENI:Thando Gubevu Ndlovu was on Christmas Day shot by a soldier identified as Tfwala merely for greeting his girlfriend at the Moneni overhead Bridge.
Gubevu is currently admitted and fighting for his life at the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial(RFM) Hospital and the soldier was not arrested by the police.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Friday, Gubevu’s brother confirmed the shooting, he said the soldier asked his brother why he was greeting his girlfriend while threatening to shoot him.
“While he was threatening to shoot him, he immediately produced a gun and shot at him.Thereafter, the youth from within the area damaged the soldier’s car. The police are now arresting those who damaged the car not the soldier who shot my brother,” he said.
A questionnaire was sent to Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson, however, she had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Police and soldiers were given guns by the State in the midst of the political unrest and they are shooting civilians with impunity.
