TEACHERS UNION: Pay salaries for civil servants early to ensure smooth re-opening of schools.

Wednesday, 4th January, 2023

MBABANE:Lot Vilakati, the Secretary General of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) has advised Government to pay civil servants early in order to ensure the smooth re-opening of schools.

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Wednesday, the SNAT Secretary General said most parents were civil servants who needed the money to pay school fees.

“Most schools demand a deposit before they admit learners.Teachers also  amount to half of the Public Service, so delaying the salaries will be stressful to both teachers and  parents thus resulting to a confusion in schools.Government has been paying civil servants early on January, since this has been a norm, it should then become a law", he said.

Mabulala Maseko, the Minister of Public Service had not responded to our questions at the time of compiling this report.

Schools will be opening on the 17th January 2023  and civil servants are expected to be paid from the 20th  January 2023 onwards.
