MBABANE: Wandile Dludlu, the Secretary General said members of and leaders of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) suffered so that the current generation can enjoy freedom.

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Friday, the PUDEMO Secretary General said as an organization, they don’t have a problem with those insulting them, questioning what they have been doing all these years because after all, they have a right to freedom of expression.

“Before, people were perceiving the King as someone who was endorsed by God,things have changed and to us, this is a major achievement. People have been dancing Incwala worshipping Mswati and some have realized recently that the Monarchy is evil. Akusho-ke kutsi nangabe kukhona labavuleke emehlo nyalo, kusho kutsi kute labebasolo basebenta,”said the PUDEMO Secretary General.

Dludlu said even before the formation of PUDEMO, others fought in the 1970s after Sobhuza banned political parties and closed Parliament.

“People are participating in the Tinkhundla elections today because others fought for this after Sobhuza banned political parties and closed Parliament.Between 1973-1978, there was no Parliament or elections in the country, Sobhuza was running this country with his friends. One of our members was heavily assaulted by the police and forced to disability while fighting for women to sell fruits and vegetables on the streets. Before,people were forced to buy fruits and vegetables in shops, things have changed in the country and we are almost there,”he said.
