Taiwan Embassy starts distribution of rice for pro-Tinkhundla eSwatini MPs ahead of elections.

MBABANE: The Embassy of the Republic of China on Taiwan has started the distribution of rice to eSwatini Members of Parliament(MPs) who are supporting the current Tinkhundla system of governance.

Eswatini has about 70% of the population living below the poverty line, aspiring MPs normally campaign with food to win seats in Parliament.

The rice worth over R3million that was announced by Taiwan Ambassador Jeremy Liang will be donated to members of the public by pro-Tinkhundla aspiring MPs, Matsanjeni North MP Phila Buthelezi has already benefitted.

Efforts to reach Taiwan Ambassador Jeremy Liang proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

After accepting the rice, members of the public are then expected to vote for the pro-Tinkhundla aspiring MPs.
