Taiwan donates R5.2million electrical equipment for SCOT, Industrial Training Centre.

MBABANE: Jeremy Liang, the Ambassador of the Republic of China on Taiwan has donated R5.2million electrical equipment to the Industrial and Vocational Education and Training (DIVT) and the Eswatini College of Technology(ESCOT).

Government online platforms reported on Wednesday that the equipment was received by Ministers of Labour and Social Security Phila Buthelezi and Education and Training Lady Howard Mabuza. 

Speaking during the handing over of the equipment, Labour Minister Phila Buthelezi said the equipment will facilitate acceleration of service delivery and minimize trade testing backlog in electrical.

“The equipment at ECOT will also assist the Ministry of Labour and Social Security in establishing Trade Tests for Hospitality and Tourism for the first time, an area with a huge potential for enhancing economic growth.With the kind of equipment the institution is receiving today, the quality of training that our students will receive will definitely surpass expectations.Our graduates will not only exit to seek employment, they can now explore other options such as delivery and takeaway, merchandising and cook at home meals,”’said the Labour Minister. 

On another note Taiwan Ambassador Jeremy Liang said the project will impact the economy as skills have a major role to play in economic development.

“We believe this equipment will improve the trade testing capacity and render the beneficiaries competent in their trades nationally and internationally,”‘said the Ambassador as quoted by eSwatini Government online platforms.
