MBABANE:Prince Mhlabuhlangene, the Chairman of the Elections and Boundaries Commission(EBC) has urged Swazis to participate in the upcoming elections if they wanted to change Tinkhundla system of governance.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Friday morning, the EBC Chairman said the current system cannot evolve if people remain static yet life is changing everyday.
“How can the system evolve mntfwaneNkhosi if we remain static yet life is not static? It is Parliament that has the responsibility under the Constitution to reform and transform it.But then, there are higher institutions that are outside the Parliament that deal with higher constitutional issues. That’s why we have an institution known as Sibaya and when you read the Constitution, Sibaya is above Parliament. So Sibaya is presumed legally,to deal with constitutional issues that are above the level of or the jurisdiction of Government and Parliament so to speak. But there are certain things that are influenceable or changeable at Parliamentary level,” said the Elections Commission Chairman.
