Government announces another drop in fuel prices

Wednesday, 6th May, 2020

MBABANE:Winnie Stewart, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy has announced that fuel prices will drop with effect from Thursday midnight.

The price of unleaded petrol will decrease by E1,00 per litre from E12,95 to E11,95 while diesel will drop with 80c per litre from E12.90 to E12.10 per litre.

In a press statement, the PS said the global demand for oil was seriously depressed against a huge supply storage which is not required by the world presently.

“As a result, the global crude oil prices have collapsed. The fall in the oil prices has been accompanied by a sharp depreciation in the exchange rate between the Lilangeni and US Dollar which negated the benefits of the decline in oil prices” said the Principal Secretary.
