MBABANE:Bonginkosi ‘IB’ Dlamini, the Convenor of the United Eswatini Diaspora(UED) came hard on South African Deputy President David Mabuza for visiting alleged serial killer,King Mswati.

Addressing protestors during the delivery of the “justice for human rights lawyer Thulani Maseko” petition at the Swazi Consulate offices in Johannesburg on Friday,Dlamini said the Deputy President defied the African National Congress(ANC)which resolved to stand in solidarity with the people of Swaziland.

The political activist wondered why Mabuza visited a place where the killing of Thulani Maseko was allegedly plotted.

“Some ANC comrades, they have decided to stand with the enemy. How is it possible comrades that the ANC will have a conference in December and  take a decision to say, they want to stand with the people who are fighting in Swaziland and the whole Deputy President of the same ANC,who was in the same meeting goes to Swaziland, sit and dine with the killer?  When the killer made a decision and said “I’m going to kill the people”, the Deputy President of our beloved ANC was there. When Mswati killed comrade Thulani Maseko, what should we say comrades.Should we then say, oh ok, comrade Deputy President was just there because he was a Swazi?”, said the Convenor of the United Eswatini Diaspora.

Mswati’s Spokesperson Percy Simelane, when responding to questions from this Swaziland News earlier said in the absence of an investigation,it was difficult to know who killed human rights lawyer Thulani Maseko.

Simelane appealed that an investigation be given a chance to uncover as to who killed the lawyer.

A questionnaire was sent to Pule Mabe, the Spokesperson of the African National Congress(ANC), however, he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

On another note, Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo released a statement during the visit by the South African Deputy President saying Mabuza attended Incwala in his capacity as liSwati(Son of the Soil).

“The Deputy President is not visiting in his capacity as a Government official, but purely as a liSwati(son of the soil) here to participate in the ongoing sacred Incwala ceremony and pay homage to His Majesty King Mswati III. He is accompanied by Chiefs and Princes based in the Mpumalanga Province in the Republic of South Africa and is currently at Buhleni Royal Residence,”read the statement released by the Government Spokesperson.
