Prime Minister: Lockdown to be gradually eased, social and entertainment activities remain banned

MBABANE: Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini has announced that the lockdown will be gradually eased with effect from Friday 8thMay 2020.

Addressing the Nation on Wednesday during a press conference, the PM emphasized the importance of reminding members of the public to fully comply with the COVID-19 Regulations adding that social, sports and entertainment activities will remain banned.

“It has therefore pleased His Majesty’s Government to announce that from Friday the 8thApril 2020 the country is embarking on a process of gradually easing the partial lockdown on the economy. This is in line with similar measures recently taken by other countries in the region and the world” said the Prime Minister.

The PM said further mentioned that the eased measures does not mean all businesses will be allowed to operate.

“It important to emphasize that members of the public are expected to comply with the COVID-19 regulations through this process. It is important to emphasize that the eased measures do not mean all businesses will be allowed to operate. Social, sports and entertainment activities and gathering remain banned until further notice. Everyone else is expected to stay at home. Public transport will be allowed to operate at 70% capacity in a controlled manner and time” he said.
