MBABANE: Tourism Minister and Environment Affairs Moses Vilakati has launched a tree planting campaign as a build up to the commemoration of the 2023 International Day of Forests,eSwatini Government online platforms reported on Tuesday.
Speaking during the launch, the Minister urged all emaSwati to start planting trees moving forward.
”It would be good to have every LiSwati planting a tree so as to meet our target of 1.2 Million trees by the 21st of March.Trees will be planted in schools, health facilities, Tinkhundla Centres and communities, especially degraded areas. This initiative will positively contribute to the ongoing National Tree Planting Programme launched by His Majesty’s Government in 2020.The initiative will also put the country in a better position to participate in REDD+ projects and ultimately benefit from Carbon Trading,”said the Minister.
