MBABANE:Penuel Malinga,the National Organizer of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) says security will be strengthened this weekend during the political party\'s Elective Conference to be held in South Africa.
This comes amid assassination of political activists particularly PUDEMO members by King Mswati’s State agents.
Some of the King’s agents are believed to have crossed the border last week ahead of the Elective Conference and the motive behind their trips remains unknown.
Former PUDEMO Secretary General Thulani Maseko,a highly regarded human rights lawyer was assassinated, allegedly by Mswati’s security officers and mercenaries last month.
“We are taking the issues of security very seriously amid the assassinations and we are also happy that the conference will be held in a democratic country,” said the PUDEMO National Organizing Secretary when speaking to this Swaziland News current affairs program this week.
Malinga did not elaborate on other security measures to be adopted ahead of the Elective Conference.
