LOBAMBA:Marwick Khumalo, the Lobamba Lomdzala Member of Parliament (MP) has questioned who King Mswati was referring to with his “silence the guns statement” as a police officer shot a resident of Hosea soon thereafter.

Mvuselelo Mkhabela,a member of the Communist Party of Swaziland(CPS)was shot by the police after residents of the area disrupted a civic voter education organized by the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) on Tuesday.

Speaking in Parliament on Thursday, the MP said the provocation by the police who shoot civilians, will result in retaliation and then the government will label those who are defending themselves as terrorists.

"The King said we must silence guns, but the police are busy shooting civilians.Who was the King referring to with his “silence guns statement?.They shot a resident at Hosea who was carrying a stone; there is no justification what so ever to shoot a person who is attacking you with a stone. The police were trained on how to handle such situations. We need peaceMr Speaker not this provocation because once the people retaliate, they will be labelled as terrorists,"said the MP.
