MBABANE:Lecturers at the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology(LUCT)engaged in a go-slow on Friday morning, they are demanding the reinstatement of their suspended colleague Gabsile Mnisi-Sacolo.
The go-slow comes after Lecturers across the country who are members of the National Workers Union in Swaziland Higher Institutions(NAWUSHI)staged a protest on Wednesday within the premises of the troubled institution of higher learning.
Gabsile Mnisi,an influential law Lecturer who has been representing other persecuted colleagues was suspended by Limkokwing Director Tfobile Dlamini-Gumede for alleged misconduct.
Reached for comments by this Swaziland News,Tfobile Gumede, the Limkokwing Director confirmed the go-slow but clarified that the Lecturers later resumed their duties at around 9am on Friday.
“It’s true Nkhosi that there was a go-slow, bafike bapaka ngephandle but-ke ngabo nine(9) babese bayacala kusebenta”,said the Executive Director of the Limkokwing University.
The Limkokwing University is one of the largest institutions of higher learning in eSwatini that produce technologically inclined human resources for corporate companies and Government.
It has been facing governance challenges including the persecution of pro-democracy students who protest in demand for scholarships and or against austerity measures imposed by the eSwatini Government.
But recently, the Management of the institution of higher learning managed to restore order by lifting the suspension of the students.
Apart from the persecution of students,Lecturers within the institution are complaining that their employer forces them to sign one-year renewable contracts.
According to Lecturers who spoke to this Swaziland News, the short-term contracts prevent them from negotiating or securing loans with banks so that they could improve their lives like all employed citizens.
They alleged that they feel restricted from expressing themselves if they feel ill-treated by their employer as the Director could then victimize them by not renewing their contracts.
“We want to sign at least five(5)year contracts not one year”,said one of the Lecturers.

Lecturers parked outside the Limkokwing premises.
