MBABANE:Apostle Siboniso Makhubu,a pro-democracy religious leader says eSwatini is the only country in the world where the King summons the Nation to drink alcohol for a whole weekend.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Monday,the Chairperson of the newly formed Spiritual Commissioned Christian Movement(SCCM)who has been calling for democracy and respect for human rights said as pro-democracy religious leaders,they have noted that church bodies had been silent in the midst of persecution.
“It is becoming difficult to even secure a place to preach the gospel while it’s easy to sell alcohol. As you might be aware,eSwatini is the only country where people are summoned to drink alcohol for a whole weekend,”he said.
But King Mswati when addressing members of Lutsango at Hlane Palace on Saturday clarified that the Buganu Ceremony was not about drinking alcohol but to socialize and discuss development.
“This ceremony is not about drinking alcohol but it provides a platform to socialize and discuss development,”said the King.
