MBABANE:Lawyer Mary DaSilva has been honored by the Embassy of the United States(US) for her role in advocating for human rights in the country.
DaSilva and other women were honoured as part of the International Women Day,this comes a few weeks after the human rights defender received an award from the African Human Rights Defenders.
“Today we honor Mary Pais Da-Silva,a member of the Lawyers for Human Rights and part of the network of Human Rights Defenders in Southern Africa,the Communications Person of the MultiStakeholder Forum(MSF)and member and Deputy Secretary of Liphimbo LaboMake,to name but a few in her long list of the positions she holds as she works for the realization of the promotion and protection of people’s rights through litigation,education and advocacy,”reads an online statement in part published by the US Embassy as part of the International Women’s Day.
