MTFONGWANENI:Roy Fonourakis, the Mntfongwaneni Member of Parliament(MP)said he was not aware that roads within his Constituency needed urgent maintenance.

This comes after women disembarked from a bus last week to fix the road at Bulunga amid Mswati’s Government failure to prioritize the maintenance of roads across the country.

“I am not aware of this situation,no one has reported about it.So I would need to find out and take action,”he said.

But a resident of Bulunga under Mtfongwaneni Inkhundla told this Swaziland News that it wasn't the first time they disembarked from a bus to fix the road.

"It's actually my second experience since the recent heavy rains, the road is so bad such that we are forced to fix it ourselves",said the resident who preferred to remain anonymous.

Reached for comments,Sabelo Dlamini, the Secretary General of the Eswati Local Kombi Association warned that there would be more accidents caused by public transport due to the damaged roads.

“The state of the country's roads is so serious in a way that the maintenance of the public transport business is so high. Most of the buses and kombis would be in a bad state which might cause accidents,”he said.
