MBABANE:Sicelo Mngomezulu, the lawyer representing incarcerated pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs)Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube says he doesn’t have time to disrupt the upcoming Tinkhundla undemocratic elections.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Thursday when responding to accusations by the Deputy Prime Minister(DPM)Themba Masuku who alleged that the person responsible for disrupting the ongoing civic voter education is the same one who discouraged Imbali from attending the Umhlanga Ceremony,Mngomezulu said he had no interest in the Tinkhundla flawed elections.
The DPM was quoted by the Times on Thursday having told Senators that he knew the person who disrupted the civil voter education, however,he did not name the person.
But lawyer Mngomezulu was once accused of offering a cow to residents of Hosea who boycotted the Umhlanga Ceremony.
“Assuming the DPM is referring to me,I'd say I honestly don't know what he's talking about.I've no interest in Tinkhundla's flawed elections. What is of interest to me is a new Constitutional order in Swaziland in terms of which emaSwati would elect a Government of their choosing through a multiparty democratic system.I think the DPM is over exaggerating my importance and capabilities. How can I as a single individual in a foreign land be responsible for happenings in Swaziland?”,he said.
The lawyer said he was banned from entering Swaziland and wondered if the DPM was suggesting that he entered the country to stop the civic voter education.
“Is Masuku suggesting that his Regime is failing to keep me away from entering the country? The fact is that emaSwati have realised that Tinkhundla is an archaic and backward system of governance, hence they are rejecting it.How's that my fault? If Masuku and his cronies are serious about bringing about democratic reforms in Swaziland, they must contact me, gossiping about me in that undemocratic Parliament of his is cowardly, childish and unmanly,”said the lawyer.
