HLATHIKHULU:Mashumi Shongwe,the powerful and politically connected Nhlangano Mayor has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife Tigezile Magongo-Shongwe.
The Mayor was arrested by Hlathikhulu police on Friday afternoon,investigating officers who confirmed the arrest to this Swaziland News said the matter remains a top secret for now.
“It’s true he is here in police custody,”said a senior police officer.
A questionnaire was sent to Superintendent Phindile Vilakati,however,she had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Shongwe allegedly killed his wife after subjecting her to domestic violence for years,he then attempted to sell her home.
