HOSEA: Johnny Bennett has fled his alleged farm at Nsingizini amid a land dispute with residents.
The farm owner has lost properties worth around R2million after unknown people burnt his large plant machinery and repeatedly cut-off fence.
It has been disclosed that the farm was acquired through concessions(Kukhotsisa)during the reign of King Sobhuza ll,and after the boers left,it was subsequently claimed as a farm.
Speaking to this Swaziland News,Vusi Dlamini, a senior resident of Nsingizini, confirmed that Bennett had left the farm, claiming that he was irritated by the aggrieved resident's numerous protests and acts of violence.
“It’s he has left,he was seen taking his belongings, and his security team also left. I believe he was forced to leave due to a prolonged dispute with residents who believe the land is no longer a farm. The farm is currently being taken over by the locals and Bennett has been spotted photographing the farm's perimeter in recent weeks as the Nsingizini community have started activities,”he said.
A questionnaire was sent to Bennett's farm Secretary,Hloniphile Dlamini, who denied allegations that Jonny Bennett had fled his farm.
“He is still the rightful owner of the farm, and it's just that there are a few issues we're still working out, though I don't have enough authority to comment. But it’s true that the security has been removed,”she said.
Reached for comment Nsingiszini Royal kraal indvuna Ndodekhaya Simelane, stated that he cannot take a position on the matter.
"I worry about becoming a victim.I have a meeting right now;if you can, come to the Umphakatsi for more information,”he said.
