LOBAMBA:King Mswati might dissolve Parliament anytime after the passing of the National Budget that is currently under debate within the House of Assembly,an insider told this Swaziland News.
It is highly expected that the MPs might conclude the budget speech debate in April 2023 and the King will then send them home a few weeks thereafter.
Mswati is an absolute Monarch with powers to dissolve Parliament.
“The King might dissolve the Parliament shortly after the passing of the national budget,”said the royal insider.
King’s Spokesperson Percy Simelane told this publication earlier that elections issues fall under the jurisdiction of the Elections and Boundaries Commission(EBC) and advised this journalist to contact the EBC Chairman Prince Mhlabuhlangene.
But subsequent efforts to reach the Prince proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
Reached for comments,former Senate Deputy President Ngomyayona Gamedze confirmed that the King normally dissolve Parliament shortly after the passing of the National Budget.
“As a former Deputy Head of Senate,I can confirm that Parliament is normally dissolved after the passing of the National Budget,”said the former Deputy Senate President.
